An Introduction to NYC cosmetics

I'm really excited to introduce you all to the NYC makeup range. I personally am completely new to the brand but, I have heard some great things about their products and so I am so excited to be trying out some of their latest releases. The first thing that must be mentioned is that the entire NYC range is so affordable and the products are really highly pigmented and seem to be of great quality.
The above picture is an edited selection of some my favourite products from the latest NYC collection which launched earlier on this year in September.

Starting with the HD Quattro Eyeshadow Palette, I absolutely love the shade 'Best of Broadway' (see below). There are a total of 4 palletes to choose from and each contain 4 different shades and with each palette only costing £2.99, you just can't go wrong!

Next is the Appleicious Glossy lip Balm, a balm which adds colour, shine and moisture. There are 6 shades to choose from and they retail at £2.49- I love the smell.

The  NYC Special Effects Rock Muse Smokey Top Coat is the perfect top coat to give your regular nail varnish an edge, especially over the Christmas season. Again this is very affordable at only £1.99.

NYC also have a great range of metallic eyeliners,  which retail at £2.99. There are four colours to choose from and I personally adore the above shade 'leopard print'. Sticking with the theme of eyeliners, I have also loved trying the NYC High Definition Felt Tip Liners. They are so easy to use and you can use them for either day or night looks. Above is the shade Extra black but you can also get the shade Deep brown and each cost only £2.99.
I also wanted to mention these amazing Individual Eyes Eyeshadow Palettes which are designed for those with blue or brown eyes, they cost an amazing £3.99 and are really quite self explanatory when it comes to application. The step by step guide makes them really easy to use as the palette includes a primer, an all over lid colour, a crease colour and a highlighter.

Do let me know what you think of these products and what you would like to try or what you would recommend from NYC- I would love to know :)

John Frieda Full Repair Range

I first used the John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo and Conditioner earlier on this year and it has been one range that I have kept going back to. I think it is reasonably priced (often on offer), I love the smell and it really leaves my hair feeling smooth and much healthier. It also leaves a nice finish on the hair without me then having to put much effort into styling afterwards.

Recently, I have also started trying out the John Frieda Full Repair Styling Spray which is basically a heat protector for the hair- a very important step for keeping your hair healthy! In all honesty, I am quite indifferent when it comes to these kind of sprays, which isn't necessarily negative; I just find that most styling and heat protectant sprays all do the same job.

You can check out the John Frieda Full Repair range here or go onto their YouTube where you can watch loads of useful tutorials here
Let me know what you think and if you have tried this range before.

It REALLY is worth the hype! Lancome Hypnose Mascara.

Believe the hype ladies because the Lancome Hypnose Mascara truly is the best mascara I have ever tried. I've purchased it time and time again and whenever I come back to it; I can't help but wonder why I even bothered trying another mascara.

This definitely adds a lot of volume to the lashes and you can really achieve a few different looks with the Hypnose mascara. You can define the lashes and make them look fluttery and pretty for a pretty daytime look or instead, add some extra coats for a glamourous and dramatic evening look- no falsies needed and the perfect mascara for the Christmas party season!

Clarins Body Blitz

I'm an avid fan of Clarins products in general. I cannot be without my Beauty Flash Balm and more recently, I have been obsessing over their latest limited edition palettes. For now however, I am taking things back to basics and thought that I'd take you through some Clarins body care bits that I have recently started using and already love.

The Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion is definitely my favourite product out of all three. The skin is left feeling amazing and soft and although it has a rich formula it does dry very quickly. The Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment cream is a really intense treatment for the hands and nails and I can imagine it to be effective on even the driest of skin. Also, as I get through a lot of hand cream, I particularly love the size of this product as it means it should definitely last me a while.
Last but not least is the Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment cream. I don't normally use a foot cream as I often just double up my hand or body cream to use on my feet but it's definitely been nice to use a product which is actually designed especially for the feet.

I'm really enjoying these products and this routine, especially as skin can often become quite dry as winter approaches. These products have been an absolute saviour for my skin and so I would highly recommend them.

You can check out all the Clarins range here.

No Clogs Allowed!

The Soap and Glory No Clogs Allowed super self-heating deep pore detox face mask is a deep cleansing treatment that's ideal for greasy and blackhead prone skin. You only need to use it once or twice a week by rubbing a grape-sized measure onto your face and then scrubbing it in and the product then gives a heating feeling on the skin. I personally have liked rinsing it off straight away but you can also leave the mask on for 3-5 minutes for a more intense treatment.

I've found this to definitely have a smoothing effect on my skin but it does leave the skin feeling slightly dry afterwards, so a good moisturiser is essential.  I'm not sure if I'd go as far as repurchasing this because I think there's definitely better products of the same kind available. However, that being said it has done what it says on the bottle, it smells great and Soap and Glory is generally a rather affordable brand.

October Joliebox

Apologies for the delay in this months Joliebox post, time has been flying by! I was really very impressed with the October Joliebox which was described as a 'pure and natural box'. Filled with all sorts of amazing organic and natural beauty products, this box is designed to keep you feeling beautiful both inside and out. And as always, I also loved this months Joliemag which had the lovely Fleur from Fleur de Force on the cover.
This months box included a box of Lov Organic- Lov is Beautiful herbal tea which is said to have proven skincare benefits. A full size Jason Bee Healthier Lip Balm stick, a sample of the MOA Green multipurpose Balm, an amazing full size of the Ritessens exfoliant and finally and two samples of the Iroisie Soin Parfait Ultimate BB Cream.
My favourite product has to be the Green multipurpose balm and I am so excited to start using the exfoliant from Ritessens.

What did you all think of this month's Joliebox- will you be getting a subscription? Let me know as I always love to hear what you think!

Phyto for Ultra Dry Hair

The PhytoNectar Ultra Nourishing Shampoo and PhytoKarite Deep Nourishing Brilliance Mask are both designed for those with ultra dry hair.  Both the shampoo and mask have a very creamy formula, and are supposed to moisturise and revitalise the hair intensely from within.
Helping protect the hair from external stress factors; this combination is ideal for this time of year as it nourishes and revives dehydrated, brittle hair- a common problem for many throughout the colder seasons.

The PhytoKarite Deep Nourishing Brilliance Mask intensely repairs whilst minimising breakage and deeply regenerating the hair. I found it very important to follow the exact instructions when using this product for the best results. You simply mask the ends and lengths of towel-dried hair and then comb the hair to evenly distribute the product. Also, before applying the product to the hair; I've found that if you work the product with your hands first, it makes the mask generally easier to work with.

It has actually taken me some time to decide on whether or not I liked these products but I have come to the conclusion now that I definitely do. Where they work the hair from 'within' I found that I saw my hair get worse before it got better but now after a few uses, I can definitely see a real improvement in the overall health of my hair. I particularly like knowing that it is actually repairing my hair, instead of just masking it with chemical nasties like many other hair products do to just give that 'quick fix'.

The PhytoNectar Ultra Nourishing Shampoo (£11.50) and PhytoKarite Deep Nourishing Brilliance Mask (£22) are silicone and paraben free and are available at Feel Unique (here) and also in
John Lewis.

October Favourites!

I can't believe it's already November; this year is going so quickly. The month of October saw me dig out the dark berry-toned lipsticks like MAC's Dark Side, which is pictured above- I love absolutely anything and everything that is burgundy at the moment. And when it came to skin this month, I have been obsessed with achieving a 'glowing' complexion and so, my absolute must-have and go to products have been the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation, Rimmel Wake me up Concealer and the New CID i-glow in the shade Sirocco. Also, after not having used it in a while, I've fallen back in love with my CaudalĂe Beauty Elixr. I have only been using it after having applied my make up; like a setting spray and I just feel like it makes my makeup look much nicer and more natural on the skin.

What products have you been loving this month!? Let me know!
